The Pouakai Cabin is only 20 minutes from New Plymouth located at the start of the Pouakai Track in Mt Taranaki National Park, nestled at the base of the Kamahi Forest which is classed as a Significant Natural Area.
The private cabin has Beautiful views with bush surroundings, overlooking the Northern Taranaki Coastline. The lights of New Plymouth sparkle in the distance at night creating a magical atmosphere. Relax and unwind in this tranquil environment.
The open living plan has two Queens and a single bed, all linen and bedding is provided. There is a woodfire in the living area making the cabin lovely and cosy, Firewood is provided and accessible from inside with a large woodbin, No need to go out in the cold! The kitchenette has the basics for cooking as well as crockery and cutlery. There is also a BBQ installed on the front deck for those warmer summer nights.
The cabin features a large cedar hot tub in the wet room area which looks out on open pasture and panoramic views of New Plymouth in the distance.
The Mangorei Track is right at the gate for people who enjoy tramping/hiking. The walk to the top of the Pouakai's takes approximately 2 hours.
The Cabin is situated on a working farmlet where the owners enjoy all the facets of rural living including seasonal milking of a house cow, free range chooks, organic vegetable gardens and orchard as well as an alternative power supply for the property.
Just a 10 min drive away there is a beautiful golf course. The Westown club hires out clubs and Golf carts if required. There is also a beauty therapist in the same vicinity for people who enjoy a relaxing pamper.
The property is really easy to find. The address is 1878 Mangorei Road, New Plymouth. Once you are on Mangorei Road you just keep driving until the road end and the walking track starts. You will see the sign on the right hand side for Pouakai Cabins.
Smoking allowed outside only. Occasionally there will be pedigree Dexter cattle in the pasture in front of the cabin. It is a working farmlet so small children will need to be supervised. Animal viewing can be arranged (Chooks, cows etc).
